• Naturopathic Medicine

  • Naturopathic Medicine is primary health care that focuses on identifying the underlying cause of disease and health issues, rather than just their symptoms. It is used to diagnose, treat and prevent illness using a combination of modern medicine and natural therapeutics to promote your best health & wellness.

Our Naturopathic Doctors are health educators. They will empower you with the information you need to make the best choices for achieving your optimal health. Dr. Lucas MacMillan was originally trained as a registered nurse, wherein he learned the ins and outs of hospital and community centre care. He continued his education to become a naturopathic physician, and was initially focused on sports medicine, chronic pain, and injuries. Through this he was trained in various advanced therapies including prolotherapy & platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections to decrease pain and regenerate lost cartilage and connective tissue, along with nutritional IV therapies and injections. He also offers bio-identical hormone therapies, various nutritional and herbal therapies, spinal manipulation, IMS or intramuscular injections, a wide variety of lab tests & assessments, and much more. He continually expands his understanding and training to offer his patients a comprehensive healing experience, while utilizing referrals to other qualified professionals where appropriate.

  • 1) First Do No Harm

Naturopathic medicine follows three principles to avoid harming the patient:

    1. Utilize methods and medicinal substances which minimize the risk of harmful side effects.
    2. Avoid, when possible, the harmful suppression of symptoms.
    3. Acknowledge and respect the individual's healing process, using the least force necessary to diagnose and treat illness.

Your naturopathic doctor chooses remedies and therapies that are safe and effective, to increase your health and decrease harmful side effects.

    2) The Healing Power of Nature

Your naturopathic doctor works to restore and support the powerful and inherent healing ability of your body, mind and spirit and to prevent further disease from occurring. Naturopathic doctors identify and remove obstacles to recovery, facilitating and augmenting this ordered and intelligent healing ability.

    3) Identify and Treat the Cause

The primary goal of your naturopathic doctor is to determine and treat the underlying cause rather than simply managing or suppressing the symptoms. The underlying cause may be due to diet, lifestyle habits, life events, posture, environment and genetics.

    4) Treat the Whole Person

Each person is unique and requires individualized care. In treating the cause of any condition your naturopathic doctor takes into account not only your physical symptoms, but also mental, emotional, genetic, environmental, social, spiritual and other factors. Disease affects the entire person, not just a specific organ or system. Your nutritional status, hormones, lifestyle, family history, feelings, environmental stresses, and physical health, are all carefully evaluated and addressed.
